The Lobster Ponds at Bunavalla, Derrynane, Co Kerry is a unique property located close to Caherdaniel at the tip of the beautiful Iveragh Peninsula.

Set on a headland jutting out into the Atlantic, the 7ac property includes a four-bedroom bungalow extending to 1,994sqft, a series of lobster ponds and service sheds, and a disused lobster factory.

The entire holding is for sale by private treaty with a guide price of €550,000 and comes with detailed planning permission for the redevelopment of the entire site.

Located some 7.2km beyond Caherdaniel, 10km from Kenmare and 54km from Killarney, the property enjoys panoramic views of Dursey Head, the Skelligs, and Scariff and Deenish islands.

According to John Daly of Sherry FitzGerald Daly, Kenmare, the current owners were granted planning permission to extend and refurbish the existing house, remove the disused lobster factory and remodel the ponds into a private harbour complete with a boathouse.

The development never happened and, according to Mr Daly, as a result there are a number of options open to new owners.

The present bungalow lodge extends to some 1,990sqft and is in reasonable repair and includes a living room, kitchen, four bedrooms, two of which are ensuite, and a bathroom.
