Listowel kicks off autumn dairy sales

The autumn dairy sales are kicking off, with one of the first taking place in Listowel Mart tomorrow.
The sale, which starts at 1pm, will include up to 120 heifers, mainly registered as purebred and due to calve in January and February.
Given the quota situation, the home trade is likely to be limited for dairy stock but there is good demand from the North and Britain for nice heifers.
Mart boss Barney O'Connell said the strong cull cow trade could see higher than expected prices for replacement stock.
