A limestone farm totalling 57.3ac located midway between the Co Clare villages of Ruan and Corofin is coming to auction later this month with a guide of €300,000, or €5,000/ac.

Situated on the Ruan/Corofin Road, just a 10-minute drive from Ennis, the property has extensive road frontage and is available in one or two lots.

It contains 25ac of quality upland ground, most of which is suitable for the meadowing of hay or silage.

The balance of the lands is craggy ground that, with reclamation, would make for good meadowing.

Commenting on the sale, David Costelloe, of Costelloe Estate Agents, said the sale would represent "a fantastic opportunity" to purchase an outside farm for an established farming operation or a stand-alone holding for a young farmer starting out.

The property will be sold as an entire or in two lots of 12.82ac and 44.45ac.

The auction takes place on Friday, November 18, at 3pm in the Old Ground Hotel, Ennis, Co Clare.

Costelloe Estate Agents is also handling the sale of a 10ac field on the outskirts of the village of Tulla, Co Clare.

This sort of property was obviously a developer's dream at the height of the boom. It has 400m of road frontage and planning permission for 30 houses, six chalets and a nursing home.

In a sign of the times, it is coming on the market with a guide price more reflective of strong agricultural prices.

The field will be offered at auction at the Old Ground Hotel, Ennis on Friday with a guide of €180,000-200,000.
