Limerick 20ac is sold for ¤230,000

Tom Crosse, of GVM auctioneers, had reason to be cheerful after a 20ac holding located at Scart, Ballysimon, Co Limerick, was knocked down at auction for €230,000.

A second 68ac section of the farm was withdrawn from auction and negotiations for the land are continuing.

The auction was attended by around 50 local farmers. Bidding opened at €100,000, the lands were put on the market at €210,000 and the auctioneer's gavel fell four bids later.

The land has good road and river frontage, and is just a 10-minute drive southeast of Limerick city.

There are no buildings or residence with the property, but the buyer was a local farmer.

Currently bid to €500,000, Mr Crosse said an early sale was expected for the 68ac plot.
