Kuhn expands into US
French firm Kuhn has acquired US agricultural equipment firm Krause, which is in Hutchinson, Kansas.
The US firm is a privately held enterprise manufacturing a wide range of primary and secondary tillage equipment and grain drills for tractors from 100-500hp.
The Krause Corporation was founded in 1916 and today has a workforce of 230.
Last year, Krause reported company revenues in excess of US$61m. According to Kuhn, Krause will be renamed Kuhn Krause Inc and will operate as a subsidiary of Kuhn North America.
The acquisition will move Kuhn into the large North American crop production sector and the US corn belt.
It will give Kuhn access to Krause's range of high horsepower tillage tools and grain drills for markets outside of the US, in particular central and eastern Europe.
The firm also says the takeover enables it to have a research, development and manufacturing centre for high horsepower crop production machines in the US Midwest.
