The property, which included single farm payment entitlements worth €9,500, was no sooner advertised than it was sold privately for an undisclosed sum.

Situated four miles from Longford town, the farm had a good range of farm buildings, including a three-bay double slatted shed, a three-bay cubicle shed, both with rubber mats.

It also had a three-bay dry shed and covered cattle handling facilities.

Auctioneer Frank Sheridan, from MacEoin Brothers, in Ballinalee, Co Longford, refused to disclose the selling price but said it was "a good average for land in the area" and that the vendor was happy.
