The lands at Dalkinstown, Calverstown, Kilcullen, was laid out in six divisions, all in permanent pasture, with good road frontage.

More than 50 people turned up at the Keaden Hotel, Newbridge, for the auction, and joint agents Jordan Auctioneers, Newbridge, and Leinster Marts, Kilcullen, had no shortage of bidders on the day.

The sale opened with an initial bid of €500,000, before increasing in bids of around €10,000 to temporarily stop at €630,000.

There were two active bidders at that stage but two more entered the fray when the property was put on the market.

The hammer finally fell at €750,000, which equates to €14,400/ac.

The land was bought by a local farmer and all the interest was from the local area.
