A 68ac non-residential farm put on the market by Kerry Group was secured by one of its own milk suppliers for close to €380,000 recently.
Located at Kantoher, Co Limerick, the farm consisted of 53ac of good land and 15ac of marginal land, according to selling agent Tom Crosse from GVM Limerick.
There were three potential buyers for the farm and all were local men. However, the farm was eventually secured by a dairy farmer from the neighbouring parish, for a figure believed to be in the region of €380,000.
It is understood that the land is destined to be farmed by a son of the dairy farmer, who is branching out from the home farm.
Meanwhile, the same agent is in the process of closing two more farm sales in Co Limerick.
A non-residential 88ac farm at Pallaskenry is understood to be making in the region of €555,000, while an 89ac non-residential farm at Newcastlewest is still under negotiation.
It is understood that this farm is likely to sell for a price in the region of €600,000.
