John Deere strikes gold
A series of John Deere inventions impressed a jury of 14 independent experts to help the machinery giant take home two Gold and five Innovation awards from the FIMA agricultural trade fair in Zaragoza, Spain.
The first Gold winner was for John Deere's electrical adjustment of the top-cover vanes on the variable stream rotor in new S-Series combines.
Remotely controlled from the cab, the company says this feature helps to optimise straw quality and separation capacity under frequently changing harvest conditions.
The company's second-generation ActiveSeat suspension system was also awarded Gold by the judging panel. Electronically activated, the suspension system isolates the driver from up to 90pc of the tractor's vertical movement, according to the firm.
