The Investec-sponsored Irish show jumping team will be aiming to secure the last remaining Olympic tickets as the FEI European Show Jumping Championships get underway in Aachen, Germany tomorrow.
The recent Nations Cup winning riders Bertram Allen on Molly Malone V, Greg Broderick with MHS Going Global, Darragh Kenny on Sans Soucis Z and Cian O'Connor aboard Good Luck will be joined by Denis Lynch with All Star 5 in a bid to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
Only four combinations from the five selected will contest the 24-strong team event, the final of which takes place on Friday.
Going on recent form, Ireland holds a strong card in both the team and individual championships, which conclude on Sunday.
In order to qualify for Rio the side must finish in the top three from amongst those countries not already through following last year's World Equestrian Games. Those already qualified are France, Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden.
Following Ireland's emphatic victory at the Dublin Horse Show, team manager Robert Splaine said: "I'm feeling really confident now going to the European Championships in Aachen. These guys and Denis Lynch are in the squad and I know we are really strong.
"Their RDS win showed exactly what we can do."
