IFA deputy president Eddie Downey has rejected new inspection requirements which involve assembling livestock for reading identity tags.
Mr Downey said the new proposals were over the top and he called on Agriculture Minister Simon Coveney to intervene to ensure a more farmer-friendly inspection regime is created.
At a meeting in Portlaoise, Mr Downey highlighted the need for earlier applications, quicker problem solving, processing and payments in this year's scheme.
