The IFA has slammed accountants for failing to make adequate capital gains tax declarations on behalf of landowners who received CPO payments for road projects.
From a sample of 50 cases, more than 85pc of farmers were required to make additional payments.
IFA roads chairman Jer Bergin said it was inexcusable that professional accountants left farmers open to large capital gains tax payments.
