The IFA president John Bryan has sought a meeting with the Minister for Justice, Alan Shatter, following the latest spate of attacks on rural dwellers in their homes.
"The recent attacks in Donegal, Galway and other parts of the country are further proof of the growing incidence of aggressive burglaries in rural areas," he said.
"Minister Shatter and the gardai have to react proactively to the concerns of rural Ireland.
The IFA is prepared to play its part with its members in working to ensure that an effective rural crime prevention strategy is implemented."
