IFA accused of scaremongering on septic tanks

The IFA has been accused by a Fine Gael TD of preferring scaremongering rather than constructive input on the septic tanks issue. Kildare North TD, Anthony Lawlor, claims that the IFA failed to respond to a request from the Department of Environment to consult with them on the septic tank inspection regime.
"Despite their bluster, when asked by the Department to engage in the consultation process, they declined to do so."
In response, the IFA said FG TD's claims were baseless. Environment chairman, Pat Farrell said that the IFA wrote to Minister Hogan last April. "We also met with Minister Hogan in June and we also engaged with the EPA and his Department twice afterwards."
