Gardai, the fire brigade and the ambulance service were called to the stud last Tuesday afternoon when two people were overcome by fumes in a suspected gas leak.

It is understood that the employees -- one man and one woman -- were overcome by gas fumes but were able to raise the alarm. Both people were taken to hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The incident happened at around 2.30pm on Tuesday and the surrounding area was closed off for a number of hours for further technical examination.

A Health and Safety Authority spokesman confirmed that an investigation was under way at the premises but he declined to make any further comment.

A spokesman for Eurogene said the company was co-operating fully with the investigation and work at the station was continuing as normal.

"Both employees have been released from hospital and are making a full recovery," he said.
