Wicklow is renowned for its scenery and natural beauty but parts of the county also have some of the best land in the country.

This is particularly true of south Wicklow where a 59ac grass or tillage farm at Knockatomcoyle, Tinahely is coming to auction with a guide price of €470,000 or €8,000/ac.

The farm has panoramic views over the surrounding countryside and is home to two old stone dwellings that may potentially ease the passage of a planning application.

The property has direct road frontage and access off a laneway.

Auctioneer Andrew Kiersey of Kiersey Walker and Associates says two thirds of the farm is currently under grass, while the remainder was in tillage last year.

Productive

While there are no farm buildings of substance, there is an old hayshed with some stone outbuildings

The farm is located in a productive farming area and can be bought as an entire or in lots.

The largest lot extends to 27ac, a 19ac section makes up a second lot, with the final lots comprising a 9ac lot and 2ac with the derelict buildings.

Mr Kiersey expects significant local interest in the sale, which takes place at Murphy's Hotel, Tinahely at 3pm on Friday, April 24.
