New to the Irish market in the hedgecutter range is a 5.5m-reach machine from Kuhn.
This machine fits in between the company's smaller Agri-Longer and larger Pro-Longer models. It is a parallel-arm machine, which allows simple manoeuvring around obstacles -- making life a lot easier for the operator.
The arm also features a safety break-back system and 120° power slew for those hard to reach places and for safe road transport. These Poly-Longer machines have manual side shift, which provides a reach from 5m (when centred) to 5.5m (fully shifted), and allows it to work safely and effectively in tight spaces and behind the tractor wheels.
Available hedgecutter control options are a choice of single lever on/off electronic controls or electronic proportional controls from a joystick. At the working end, a 57hp motor drives a 1.2m head, equipped with 'T' flails as standard, driven at a speed of 2,900rpm. An oil cooler helps keep the hydraulic systems cool and a twin pump supplies oil for the head and arm hydraulic functions.
According to Kuhn, all machine joints, including those at the hydraulic rams, are enclosed and greased for life for minimum wear and maximum durability. Hoses are protected through either metal casings or braided sleeves, and a new pivoting plate feature reduces wear at its key points. Road lights are included as standard on all models.
Kuhn's Poly-Longer can be sourced in Ireland through Kuhn's Irish importers: Cork Farm Machinery Ltd, WW Doherty & Sons and Larkin (Dublin) Ltd, with prices available on request.
