Half-pipe design offers an alternative in grain trailers

Northern Ireland trailer manufacturer McCauley Trailers has launched a new design of grain and silage trailer.
Selling its agricultural and commercial trailers under the MAC brand name, the firm, from Toomebridge, Co Antrim, has designed its new agricultural trailers with a round profile bottom section.
McCauley says its distinctive half-pipe design and curved body shape for its new grain/ silage trailers provides an appealing alternative to many models currently on the market and takes a lot of features from what manufacturers are offering in continental Europe.
The firm states that the new trailers have been designed and manufactured to exceptionally high specification in order to handle the demands of modern harvesting, including hundreds of loading and unloading cycles, regular manoeuvring through uneven fields and the occasional sharp turn means grain trailers tend to take a beating over time.
The new range spans 12t to 18t capacity models in double- or triple-axle variants.
In building the new trailers, McCauley has used Domex 760 hardened steel in the manufacture of the body. The body itself is carried on a heavy-duty chassis. Between the chassis and the ground, the firm has used high speed commercial axles to provide 50pc braking efficiency and has equipped these with 560 floatation tyres.
Other standard features include an hydraulic-operated back door with double-acting rams, access ladders to allow for safe and easy viewing of the load, grain shoot in the tailgate and coil spring drawbar suspension. Options include a rear-steering axle, air brakes, manual roll over cover and silage sides, which, the firm says, are quick and easy to fit.
Retail list prices start from £23,500 plus VAT (€27,700) for a two-axle model and £26,000 plus VAT (€30,650) for a three-axle. For more information check out www.mccauleys.co.uk or call 048 7965 9191.
