Animal Health Ireland (AHI) has appointed veterinary surgeon and disease expert Dr David Graham as programme manager for biosecure diseases.
Dr Graham will manage all AHI projects relevant to the non-regulated biosecure diseases, which have been prioritised for action by AHI, including BVD, IBR and Johne's Disease.
Dr Graham qualified from UCD as a vet in 1988 and worked as a house surgeon and large animal vet, before moving on to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development in Northern Ireland and Queens University, Belfast.
In 2007 he established, and has subsequently led, a cattle health scheme offering monitoring, eradication and accreditation programmes for BVD, IBR, Johne's and leptospirosis.
Meanwhile, Animal Health Ireland is to roll out a series of 10 information meetings in early November on the topics of BVD, parasite control and biosecurity.
