Every year members of the Irish Pony Club travel to shows all over Britain and the United States to compete in international classes ranging from mounted games to show jumping, tetrathlon and many other disciplines.
Next month, the Irish Pony Club is to host a fundraising lunch in order to boost the travel and training fund for the coming years.
Among the special guests at the lunch will be former pony club members, international pentathletes Arthur Lanigan O'Keeffe and Natalya Coyle, and Paralympic silver medallist Helen Kearney.
Taking place at the Lyrath Hotel, Kilkenny on Sunday, November 11, tickets for the lunch cost €50 each and are selling like hot cakes.
The day will include a fashion show, trade fair and raffle with top prizes.
These include Dubarry boots, Bunratty Castle banquet tickets, a day's racing at Fairyhouse, tickets to the Tattersalls International Horse Trials, trekking in the Slieve Bloom Mountains and Red Mills feed vouchers.
The Pony Club is also running an auction with some fantastic prizes, which can be bid for on the day or online between now and November 11.
The auction prizes include a lesson with Olympic bronze medallist Cian O'Connor and a painting by the late Pony Club stalwart and artist Mrs Cherry Brandon.
There are several hunting packages on offer in the auction, which include one day's hunting for two people with illustrious packs such as the Scarteen, Ward Union, Tipperary, Killinicks and the Stonehall Harriers.
A complete list of auction and raffle prizes is available to view on www.theirishponyclub.ie.
