Fire in Glanbia feed plant controlled
Glanbia's coarse ration mill in Portlaoise is back in production this week following a fire at the plant last week.
While local fire crews were called to the scene, there were no injuries as a result of the incident, and a spokesman said that the fire was confined to allow the oat mill and the grain business to continue production unaffected.
As a result, the company put its Clonroche mill on to a 24-7 rota to maintain production, while additional feed was also sourced from D Walsh in Kilkenny, which allowed all farmer orders to be fulfilled.
The fire on Wednesday morning occurred in a control room and was quickly brought under control due to good alarm systems, the firm said.
