A 57ac farm near Straffan, Co Kildare, is being brought to auction by REA Coonan of Maynooth, with a guide reserve of €10,000/ac.

Located at Barberstown, the well-maintained farm has been under tillage for the past number of years and is all in one field. Auctioneer Will Coonan says there has been a good level of interest in the property so far, adding that the holding might appeal to farmers wishing to expand or hobby farmers hoping to develop a residence on the land, subject to planning permission.

Land in the Straffan-Celbridge-Maynooth area is currently commanding prices of up to €12,500/ac.

The current owners, who are retiring from farming, developed the land over the years and took out many of the small fields on the property to consolidate the farm into one single block.

While located in the heart of Kildare farming belt, the property is a only five minutes' drive from the M4 and less than two miles from Straffan, Celbridge, and Maynooth.

The excellent road frontage to the farm is via the R406.

The farm goes under the hammer in the Glenroyal Hotel in Maynooth, on May 28 at 3pm, unless previously sold.
