Farmers must receive 'decent' return: Hogan

EU Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan says it is in the interests of all players in the food chain to realise the critical importance of producers receiving a decent return.
The commission understood the need to ensure unfair trading practices do not weaken the position of farmers, said Mr Hogan at the opening of Aurivo's new headquarters in Sligo.
He added that 150 million people will be entering the global middle class every year until 2030 and Irish dairy farmers will be well placed to capitalise on the rise in disposable income.
