Farmer killed in Tipp
For the second time in four days, neighbouring parishes in north Tipperary are mourning another farm fatality.
The burial took place last Wednesday at Dunkerrin of a newly married local farmer, 35-year-old Shane Kenneally, from Ballinakill, Cloughjordan, who lost his life when the quad bike he was riding overturned on his farm.
Two days earlier, the funeral had taken place of agricultural contractor Brendan Kelly, from Richmond, Nenagh, a father of two who lost his life in an accident while baling hay.
Four fatal farm accidents have occurred in the mid-west region within the past month, the worst record for the area in decades.
There have been 13 farm-related deaths since the start of the year, despite a renewed push by state agencies to raise awareness about farm safety this year.
