A SUBSTANTIAL holding just outside Arklow is attracting real farmer interest, the selling agents have revealed.

Located on the outskirts of Arklow, the 165ac holding at Johnstown, Co Wicklow, comes with road and sea frontage.

However, auctioneer Simon Stokes, of North's Property, says the property is of purely agricultural interest, although a new owner may wish to build a house on the site.

Included in the sale is a dilapidated house and a range of outbuildings.

The property has a disclosed reserve of €900,000 and is being offered in one lot at auction on August 26.

"The interest is mainly from local farmers, although there have been a few inquiries from farmers from outside the area," Mr Stokes said.

Block

"It's a decent block of land which has been let in recent years for tillage and grass.

"It does need to be tidied up a little bit but the majority of it is good land."

The land comes with extensive road frontage onto the N11 Dublin to Wexford road and onto the Arklow to Mizen Head road.

"The house is in disrepair but has potential to make a charming home, and the large shed could be converted to indoor-arena use," Mr Stokes added.

It also offers spectacular views over St George's Channel, an incentive for anyone keen to exploit the potential of the site.
