Farmer beats four bidders to 16ac

A local farmer saw off four other bidders to secure a 16ac non-residential parcel of land at Longford, Templemore, Co Tipperary.

The property is located four miles from Templemore and within striking distance of the new M7 motorway. The land was sold for €158,000, or close to €9,875/ac. There were five bidders in the race when the auction opened and four were still active when the land was put on the market at €148,000. It then became a two-horse race between a pair of local farmers.

The sale price is at the top end of what is available for agricultural land at the moment, with most sale prices varying between €8,000 and €10,000/ac.
