The Co Meath-based distributors say the Fella SM 310FZ-KC front mounted mower will be mounted together with the SM 310 TL-KC linkage mounted mower.

Both of these machines are fitted with the effective spring tine conditioners, which can be easily detached from the mower – a feature unique to Fella.

The Fella SM 310 FZ-KC is a six disc, 3m front-mounted mower with trailing headstock – a design chosen because Fella engineers maintain pulling is easier than pushing.

The spring loaded, parallel-ogram overhead frame allows the cutter bar a large freedom of vertical and oscillating movement to follow the ground contours without surface damage or ploughing into the ground.

Meanwhile, the SM 310 TL-KC is a matching six disc, 3m linkage mounted mower. Centre pivot attachment and a trailing cutter bar allows the mower to follow ground contours.

A hydro-pneumatic suspension system provides constant, continuous variable ground surface contact pressure, which is adjustable from the cab. This is adaptable to a wide variety of ground conditions, allowing the surface pressure of the cutter bar to be adapted to the surface conditions.

Mounted mower

The third Fella mower which will be demonstrated is the SM 311Trans KC.

This is a 3m semi mounted mower, with a wheel support which reduces the load on the tractor by distributing the weight evenly between the tractor and the bogie wheel.

This allows the mower to be operated with low horse power tractors, from 90hp upwards.

The trailing cutter bar is carried on a sturdy frame, with parallel linkage which provides a large freedom of vertical and oscillating movements.

The transport width is less than 2m, and the mower follows the tractor like a trailer on the road.

All of these mowers have individual gearbox drives to each mowing disc.

They also include the unique Driveguard protection system, which was recently voted one of the best innovations in farm machinery.

Finally, the Fella SM 2870 is a new seven disc, 2.8 m wide linkage mounted mower.

The drive to the cutter bar comes directly from the first mower disc, eliminating the need for an inner skid. The gears run in an oil bath, ensuring full lubrication to the bed in any mowing position.
