Experts set for Connemara Pony event

THE Midlands Connemara Pony Breeders is to host an international Connemara Pony conference in the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore, Co Offaly, on Saturday, April 24.

'Let's Talk Pony' will be a day-long conference with talks from professionals.

Lectures will include a talk on the latest shoeing techniques by the chairman of the Master Farriers' Association, Jeremy Stanley; the feeding regime from birth to bridle by Teagasc equine expert Wendy Conlon; and breeding the problem mare and the pros and cons of natural cover and AI by Somerton Equine Hospital's Stefania Bucca.

Finland judge and current president of the International Committee of Connemara Pony Societies, Tuula Pyöriä, and Ms Nina Gustafson, from Lofty Connemara Pony Stud in Sweden, will also speak at the event.

Mary McCann, judge, studmaster and producer of champion ponies, including Ashfield Bobby Sparrow, will address the conference, as will vet David McCann.
