EU revamps off-road rules

A revamp of EU rules on emission limits for off-road machinery, including farming equipment and combines, has been agreed by MEPs in the Environment Committee.

MEP Mairead McGuinness said tractors were exempt from the new rules but tractor emissions targets were due to be revised. "These tighter emissions restrictions will impact some machinery used on farms, such as chainsaws sprayers and harvesting machinery - although tractors will not be impacted," she said. "Any new rules will only apply to new machinery and engines." and are not retroactive."
