EU farm guru Lyon tops ASA speakers' bill

George Lyon, chairman of the influential European Parliament Agriculture Committee, and 'Bord Snip Nua' chairman Colm McCarthy top the bill as speakers at the ASA annual conference in Tullow this Friday.
The conference features debates on CAP reform, the 2020 harvest report, the shape of farm advisory services in the future, and challenges and prospects for economic recovery.
A total of 20 speakers will address the conference.
The panel for the 2020 debate includes Jim Bergin, CEO of Glanbia Ingredients, Richard Booth, a beef farmer from Laois, Bord Bia chairman Dan Browne and Aidan O'Driscoll, assistant secretary general in the Department.
Tom Kelly, director of Advisory Services with Teagasc, private consultant Michael Brady and New Zealand advisory specialist Adrian van Bysterveldt will participate on the future for farm advisory services.
