The livestock sector has become one of the fastest expanding features of the Ploughing Championships, attracting huge interest from livestock farmers.

Interest from the livestock breeding and services sector this year is the largest to date resulting in an expanded area being devoted to stock, equipment and services. Highlights will include the Dovea AI Charity auction in aid of Third World charity Bothar - the culmination of an 18-month effort for the charity.

In Spring 2015, Dovea Genetics purchased six beef type heifers. These have been reared by the Tipperary based breeding centre, and were on display at the society stand at last year's ploughing championship.

At this year's event, the heifers will be sold by auction and the society have enlisted the help of six well known sports personalities in different sporting areas who will lead a heifer each into the sales ring on the day of the auction.

Kilkenny's TJ Reid, Cork dual player Briege Corkery and All Ireland final man of the match Seamus Callanan will be among them.
