Donegal Texel Breeders show and sale

The title of overall champion at the Donegal Texel Breeders show and sale was claimed by a shearling ram by Baltier Thunderbird shown by Ryan Greene from Culdaff in the county.

The reserve champion ram lamb by Glenside Tomboy went to the McHugh Bros, from Speenogue, Burt, Co Donegal who caught the eye of Judge Murray Annett who later bought him for €1,300.

Organisers reported a packed house on the day, with 82pc clearance out of 128 lots.

The top price on the day was claimed by Ramelton's Ronnie Edwards, from the Hillsborough Flock, with a shearling ram, sired by Woodbrook Ulster Pride, who fetched €1,320.

The female champion went to John Greene, a shearling ewe also by Baltier Thunderbird, who later sold for €750. The title of reserve female for a ewe by Millbank Ulex went to John and Colm McHugh from Carrickmacross in Co Monaghan.
