No decision on CAP reform should be made without the input of the Oireachtas Agriculture Committee, Fianna Fáil has insisted.

Fianna Fáil agriculture spokesman, Éamon Ó Cuív, has written to the chair of the Oireachtas Agriculture Committee seeking its input into the implementation of the CAP agreement.

"I have written to the chairperson of the Oireachtas Agriculture Committee, Andrew Doyle, asking that the committee has an opportunity to contribute to the debate on the CAP implementation," Deputy Ó Cuív said.

"At that meeting, I will be seeking the input of the committee into CAP reform.

"It is vital that no decision is made by Minister Simon Coveney before he hears the views of the Agriculture Committee," he added.

"The Oreachtas Agriculture Committee must have the opportunity to examine all the options and proposals in detail.

" The Committee has submitted representations to the minister, which need to be discussed," Deputy Ó Cuív insisted.
