Dairygold board set to elect new chairman today
The Dairygold board is set to meet today to elect a new chairman of the co-op.
The current incumbent, Vincent Buckley, is to step down having served the maximum term allowed under the co-op's rules.
The new chairman will be elected by the 10 board members.
Among the fancied candidates is Bertie O'Leary from west Cork.
It is unclear whether Mr Buckley will be allowed to remain as chairman of the Irish Dairy Board (IDB).
While this will be a decision for the new Dairygold board, one source maintained that Mr Buckley would remain at the helm.
Elections before Christmas appointed four new members to the Dairygold board, including Liam Foley, former IFA dairy chairman.
