Milk reduction scheme deadline just weeks away

The deadline for submitting payment applications under the EU Voluntary Milk Reduction Scheme is Friday, February 3.

The Department of Agriculture has again urged milk suppliers to engage with their processor as they have been tasked with verifying what level of supply reductions were actually achieved by individual dairy farmers.

The Department stated that:

• Farmers who applied for Phase 1 and who believe they qualify for payment should engage with their cooperative/purchaser;

• The deadline for submission of an application to your cooperative/purchaser is Friday February 3. This will be strictly enforced;

• Farmers must have reduced production by at least 20pc of their authorised reduction, as advised by DAFM in October 2016, to qualify for payment;

• Dual suppliers should request a copy of the relevant forms and FAQ from one or other of their co-operatives and, upon completion, send directly to the Department per advice on the FAQ. Dual suppliers who believe they qualify for payment should be proactive in contacting one or both of their co-operatives/purchasers.
