Dad of two killed in accident with baler

A 40-year-old father of two has been killed in a farm accident in North Tipperary.

Self-employed contractor Brendan Kelly, of Richmond, Nenagh, was operating a baler on a farm between Nenagh and Cloughjordan when the accident occurred.

He was a well-known agricultural contractor in the area, and there was a large attendance at his funeral and burial, which took place at Cloughprior Graveyard yesterday.

His is the third farm accident-related fatality in the mid-west in three weeks, making the past month the worst in the region in several decades.
