Cork woman is top judge

A farmer's daughter from Co Cork is the 2015 Macra na Feirme Senior National Stockjudging Champion after excelling in her judgment at the final held in conjunction with the IHFA National Open Day.

Mags Kelleher, from Mitchelstown, who works for ICBF and Teagasc, as well as helping out on the home farm, was presented with the Ornua Senior Stockjudging award by Macra president, Sean Finan.

Another Cork contestant, Paul Murphy from Banteer, took the Under 23s Award.

The IHFA Senior Stockjudging was won by Trevor Lockhart, Ramelton, Co Donegal, while Thomas Daly, Leo Nulty and Brendan Mennis of the North Eastern Region were the team winners.

Sarah Condren, Joe Keohoe, and Maeve Kehoe of Slaney Region took the team intermediate award in the 18-26 years category, with individual honours, going to Diarmuid Murphy, Cork who received the Milk Board Trophy.

The junior section team award, for the Fr Collins Trophy was won by Jack Mennis, North Eastern Breeders Club, while Jack Mennis, Alexander Nulty and Matthew Flanagan of the North Eastern Club were team winners.
