A 54ac farm in Co Meath is going under the hammer at Raymond Potterton's salesroom in Navan on May 26 next with a guide price of €550,000.
The former dairy farm is located at Sommerville, Kentstown near Navan, and there is a comfortable residence and compact farmyard with the property which is the subject of an executor's sale.
Potterton's Stephen Barry says the Kentstown property is one of the most sheltered farms in the Co Meath area as it is surrounded by the Sommerville Woods - a plantation of oak and beech.
It also shares the tree-lined entrance to the nearby Sommerville Estate.
The property was one the many dairy farms set up in the midlands region in the 1930s during the division of the old estates by the Land Commission and it has operated as a dairy farm and a tillage enterprise ever since.
According to Mr Barry its three big selling points are its location - just 30 minutes from the M2 - the quality of the land and the fact that it is surrounded by mature woodlands.
"It would be ideal for a hobby farmer or someone interested in developing the farm as an equestrian or dairy enterprise," Mr Barry told the Farming Independent this week.
