In a recent auction, a 43ac parcel of land with a small cottage at Gorteen, Nurney, Co Kildare sold for €500,000 making over €11,000/ac

Located 5km from Kildare, 7km from Athy and 10 minutes from the M7 Motorway at Junction 13, the property includes approximately 43ac of land with yard and a traditional tin-roofed cottage.

The house and farmyard are located in the middle of the holding and accessed by a gravel laneway.

The two-bedroom cottage requires complete renovation and the small yard of traditional buildings could also do with attention.

The land is all in permanent pasture and laid out in about eight divisions.

There are natural hedgerows with great shelter and mature timber on the boundaries.

Up to 20 people showed up for the auction and saw auctioneer Paddy Jordan open proceedings when he accepted an initial bid of €300,000.
