Many farmers reading these pages will be familiar with Pallaskenry Agricultural College in Co Limerick and the fine land that went to make up the school's farm.
A 39ac residential holding with a modern yard at Pallas, Pallaskenry, across the road from the college, is coming to auction with a guide price of €400,000 or €10,000/ac.
Located about 19km from Limerick city, off the N69, the farm is all in one block, in permanent pasture, and comes with extensive road frontage on to a local road.
The single storey farmhouse has three lofted bedrooms, while other accommodation includes a sitting room, kitchen, utility and a bathroom.
The house, with its re-slated roof, has oil-fired central heating and is in very good condition but could do with some decorative work.
There is a range of top-class out-offices with the property, including a three-bay slatted shed with a feeding bay, a feed silo, a hay barn, a yard, a cattle crush, a holding pen and ancillary sheds. The holding commands a single farm payment of around €10,000 per annum.
The land is all in grass and in great heart and serviced by an internal roadway. The property is surrounded by a mature hedgerow, with fine stands of trees giving great shelter.
Tom Crosse expects keen interest in the farm. "It is as nice a bit of ground as you are likely to see," he said.
The holding will be sold at auction at the GVM auction rooms, Limerick at 3pm on Friday, September 2.
