Blue beauties on a winning streak across the country

Two Co Laois bred Belgian Blues, which have become 'beauties' in the eyes of show judges around the country over the season, have added two more highly valued awards to an incredible run.
Pedigree Belgian Blue heifer 'Boherard Hanky Panky', and Pedigree Belgian Blue bull 'Boherard Index' pulled off a double win for their Laois breeder, David Pearson from Ballacolla.
They were judged Overall Belgian Blue Champion for both male and female classes at the National Ploughing Championships at Ratheniska.
The Zurich Insurance sponsored competition, which is held every year by the Belgian Blue Society at the Ploughing, brings head to head the very best pedigree Belgian Blue cattle in the country selected for their performance during the 2015 season to compete for the accolades of the year.
Winning the double was a remarkable achievement for the superb Belgian Blue's in the 'Boherard' herd on Mr Pearson's farm and crowned their success on the 2015 show circuit.
The duo of the breed have been sweeping awards the length and breadth of the country, from Tinahely to Charleville, Limerick to Ossory and many more, all throughout the season before finishing in superb glory on Wednesday last at the Ploughing.
The heifer, 'Boherard Hanky Panky', is by the sire 'Kilowatt', and bull 'Boherard Index', is by the sire 'Attribut', out of dam 'Laurel Lodge Cloe'.
The judge for the final was, Seamus Neary and the awards were presented by head of agri-business for Zurich Insurance Michael Doyle.
Pedigree Belgian Blue bulls from the 'Boherard' herds are standing at all of the major AI centres in the country and in strong demand from breeders seeking to follow the top blood lines available.
