Bidders duel in Wexford

Despite a good attendance, the sale of a 72.5ac residential farm in Co Wexford turned out to be a two-horse race.
Nevertheless, the vendors of the farm at Mullinagower, Castlebridge were more than pleased with the result, which yielded almost €8,500/ac, €1,000/ac above its reserve.
Auctioneer Michael Kehoe of WFC Properties Ltd in Co Wexford opened bidding at €500,000.
The farm was put on the market at €510,000 and was eventually bought in trust, in one lot, for a local farmer.
"Because it opened so high at €500,000 this excluded a lot of people," Mr Kehoe said.
"We had about 25 to 30 people at the auction but in the end there were only two bidders."
According to the auctioneer, the interest was in the entire.
The land is all in tillage but is also suitable for grazing or vegetable growing. The sale included a four-bedroom residence and a range of farm buildings.
