Bid battle expected for 53ac Wicklow farm lot

The sale of a 53ac non-residential farm close to Wicklow town is set to pitch farmer buyers against their urban neighbours when it goes under the hammer on July 18.

Located at Ballinteskin, two miles from Wicklow town, the farm is currently divided into 20 acres of tillage and 33ac of grassland. The land is divided into 10 fields in all.

Selling agents McDonnell Properties expect the auction to attract a large number of local farmers but maintain that it could also catch the eye of Dublin or Wicklow town bidders.

Auctioneer Richard McDonnell says the farm is right in the heart of an area known for equestrian pursuits and although it has an entirely rural setting, it is well within commuting distance of Wicklow, Ashford, Gorey and Dublin.

The farm has an asking price of €365,000 and will go under the hammer on July 18 at 3pm in the Grand Hotel, Wicklow.
