Last call for Beef Genomics payments deadline

FARMERS have just eight days left to submit genotyping samples, survey data and complete a carbon navigator in order to secure next month's Beef Data and Genomics payment.

Minister for Agriculture, Michael Creed, said all surveys in relation to animals born between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016 must be completed and returned to ICBF by December 7.

All genotyping test kits must also submitted to the relevant laboratories by this deadline.

The Minister has also urged all 2016 Beef Data and Genomics Programme (BDGP) participants to complete a carbon navigator by November 30, 2016.

"In the event that requirements have not been met within the specified time frame, payments will be made in the New Year as and when herds satisfy scheme requirements," he said.

BDGP's injects up to €52m per annum into the suckler sector with the aim of delivering accelerated genetic improvement in the national herd and improve its environmental and economic sustainability.
