Baileys Cow returns to the Virginia Show
Baileys Irish Cream and Glanbia Ingredients have confirmed that The Baileys Irish Champion Dairy Cow Competition is back for its 27th year at the Virginia Show on the new date of Saturday, July 31.
After a highly successful event last year which attracted one of the biggest entry levels ever, the Baileys Cow is once again one of the highlights of the Virginia show's schedule.
Cows and calved heifers from Kerry to Donegal will compete for the prize fund of €8,000.
Within the Baileys there will be other special awards for highest protein, best EBI, best owner-bred cow, best dry cow and best heifer.
Competition organiser, Brendan Smyth said: "International experts, who have travelled to Ireland to judge the competition, have come to regard it as a showcase of world-class dairy animals.
"It demonstrates that Irish dairy farmers can face into their changing and competitive world with confidence."
The competition is open to qualifying entrants from across the whole of the island.
