Auction possibility for treaty sale

A 26ac farm with nearly 800m of road frontage onto the outskirts of the Co Offaly village of Walsh Island is being sold by private treaty by Stradbally auctioneer John Hennessy.

The lands are currently divided between tillage and pasture and are well maintained. There was a dwelling on the farm but this was replaced by a prefabricated house -- fully serviced and with a septic tank -- that now stands in the yard.

The neatly maintained farmyard is approached by an avenue and the buildings in the yard are of a traditional type, with three lean-to sheds, a silage pit and cattle handling facilities.

Mr Hennessy said that while the farm was being sold by private treaty at the moment, it may go to auction.

"We are guiding this at €8,000/ac and while we are open to offers, we may yet put it to auction," he said.
