Angus elite go on show

Livestock from almost fifty of the top Angus herds in the country will go on show at the Irish Angus Association Elite Show and Sale at Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday, December 12.

The entry comprises 53 elite Angus bulls and 25 elite Angus heifers to be offered for sale by auction at 12 noon and is preceeded by the judging of the show classes which gets under way at 9.30am.

The entire entry have been very carefully selected.

Quite a few are four and five star under both terminal and replacement indexes with the sale offering the discerning breeder the opportunity to acquire some of the best bloodlines in the breed.

The show and sale includes 'Coolcolligan Kara' an 18-month-old bull from the herd of Kevin Diffley, Bornacolla, Carrick-on-Shannon whose May 2013 born was judged Supreme Irish Angus All Ireland Champion 2015 and RDS Champion of Champions.

The largest entries come from the 'Steil' herd of Cathal and J J McCormack, Tulsk, Co Roscommon and the 'Currycramp' herd of Gerard Mulligan, Dromod, Co Leitrim.

Society Chairman, Michael Cronin said: "For anyone looking to invest in a superior quality pedigree Angus bull or heifer this is undoubtedly the best selection of pedigree Angus cattle that they will get to choose from in Ireland".
