Two deer found shot and decapitated in shocking poaching incident on Irish farmland
Gardai in Slane are currently investigating a shocking deer poaching incident recently on farm lands near Slane, Co.Meath.
The individuals involved shot two deer in the incident. One deer was decapitated while another was left for dead.
Gardai say the second deer was still alive on arrival at the scene but it had to be put down due to its injuries.
Shocking images of the incident have been posted on the official Meath Crime Prevention Facebook page of An Garda Síochána (Meath Division).
Gardai in the area say that the have spoken about red deer poaching in the Dunsany area recently but says “in the past few weeks there has been a spate of red deer poaching between Slane and Collon”.
Gardai have also said that the animals were shot by poachers on protected lands.
Gardai are appealing for information on a ‘small light coloured van’ which was spotted acting suspiciously in the area around the time. However it says no better description or reg available.
Meath Gardai has called on the public to come forward if they know the suspects involved in deer poaching.
