Gardai have asked farmers to help in the search for five people who are suspected to have been involved in burglaries.

It is understood the suspects have taken to the fields around the Tayto Park and Curagha area. Gardai have arrested four males so far. The last suspect was last spotted near the new roundabout heading for the Ashbourne/Slane Road.

Gardai had asked members of the public get word to any farmers in the area to keep an eye out for the suspects.

The suspects were using a blue Volvo which has been recovered by Gardai.

Gardai are encouraging the public to ring 01-8010600 immediately if they are spotted.

It comes as a recent survey from the ICSA and Waterford Institute of Technology that found two thirds of farming families have been impacted by crime.

The ICSA's Seamus Sherlock said many thefts were "opportunistic" and urged farmers to ensure proper security was in place with all sheds locked during the busy silage time.
