Management studies, economics, human resources and financial accounting make up a wide syllabus.

The course also involves a mandatory summer work placement organised by the university after the first year of the degree in key equine industry sub-sectors. These placements are a chance to develop the business skills students learned at college.

Placements to date have included all areas of the equine industry, such as stud farms, governing and industry bodies, bloodstock agencies, racing yards, showjumping and eventing yards, sales companies and veterinary hospitals both in Ireland and abroad.

Graduates will then be qualified to take up roles in all aspects of racecourse administration, the equine leisure and tourism sector, the breeding sector, sales and betting areas, and marketing and promotion.
